Season Seven is off and running dancing again. The ability of most of the dancers seems to be improving every year--not so much that the
good ones get any better, but there are fewer and fewer really awful dancers.
Jeffry Ross was the first one out, and rightfully so, but will someone hurry up and get ole Cloris Leachman off my tv! The crazy granny routine was funny for a minute or two, but she is just NUTS!--and I don't say that in a good way!! Seriously, she is amazing for an 82 year old woman, but I do not approve of casting contestants with such obvious disabilities that the standards for judging are altered, and people call in with sympathy votes. I do not believe in sympathy votes. Either dance or get off the floor. First we had the one-legged Heather (Will her leg fly off? It did not? WOW, she must be amazing!), then we had deaf but gorgeous Marlee Matlin (Will she be able to keep up with the music? She did? WOW, she must be amazing!), and now Cloris (Will she break a hip? Not yet? WOW, she must be amazing!). I have been a fan of Cloris since the 1970's, but it is just WRONG if better dancers get voted out of the show while she does her "shuffle around and then act crazy" routine.
And may I just add...Brook Burke and Misty May-Treanor--Hubba Hubba!!!!!! Thankfully, they are among the better dancers, so the eye candy might just prevail for most of the season. One can only hope.
